DOE Funds Nuclear Restoration with $6 Billion

Nuclear energy is part of the administration’s clean energy goals.

The Department of Energy (DOE) announced that a certification and bidding process for a civil nuclear credit program opened last week. The bidding process makes $6 billion available to the owners and operators of nuclear power reactors at risk of shutting down for economic reasons. U.S. nuclear power currently makes up half of America’s clean energy, and President Biden’s administration intends this civil credit program to keep financially distressed nuclear power plants from closing.

“We’re using every tool available to get this country powered by clean energy by 2035, and that includes prioritizing our existing nuclear fleet to allow for continued emissions-free electricity generation and economic stability for the communities leading this important work,” Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his advisors as they seek solutions to the country’s energy needs.
  • For Secretary Granholm to look to God for direction as she implements the nuclear credit program.
  • For U.S. scientists and researchers working to develop clean renewable energy production.
